Where is money allocated by the state to energy companies going?

11.05.2010, 20:04 6

The state has drawn up tens of surveys about the way the energysector should be organised, but specialists say that there havebeen few notable achievements in the past twenty years, characterising this period simply: "In energy, people are talking alot and doing little. There's never been a serious and coherentthing." Although this year companies subordinated to the EconomyMinistry say they have funds worth above 2bn euros available, 65%more than last year, the results are nowhere to be seen. On theprivate segment of energy, though, investors are rushing to put upwind mills, turning Dobrogea into the hottest area of the moment inenergy terms or are about to complete investments in power stationsrunning on gas, bigger than a Cernavoda reactor. "(...) The entirepolitical class needs to assume the failure of transition to themarket economy and we'll have to try and do what needs to be donefor Romania, so as to not repeat past mistakes. Hence, we'll needto see the results of granted subsidies," stated Adriean Videanu, the current Economy Minister.
