UPC Romania revenues in the first half dropped by 19% to 61m euros, compared with the 75.4m-euros it reported in the same period of last year, and the company in the first half booked 84.7m-euro intangible asset depreciation. "UPC Romania revenues in the first half of 2009 are influenced by the exchange rate, which has been unfavourable this year, with the RON declining by 15% from the same period of last year. Moreover, in early Q2 2008 UPC cut analogue cable TV tariffs by 30% on average, which translated into a natural decline in revenues from TV services in Q1 2009 compared with the same period of 2008," Severina Pascu, CFO of UPC Romania, told ZF. "This decrease was partially offset by significant increases on the digital TV, Internet and telephony segments, once the client base expanded by 240% on the digital segment, by 15% on the Internet one and 18% on the telephony segment until the end of June 2009 from the same period of 2008," she added. UPC Romania in the last quarter of 2008 registered intangible asset depreciation by 107m euros.
