The top 10 Romanian-held construction companies posted 213million euros in gross income, similar to the 2009 level, althoughthe construction market contracted by 17% during this period.
At the top of the ranking are builders specialising ininfrastructure works that have mainly been involved inrehabilitation of national roads and streets in the main Romaniancities.
Businessman Dorinel Umbrarescu in Bacau, who owns Spedition UMBand Tehnostrade, saw his two businesses post 101.4 million euros incumulated gross profit, up 10% on the preceding year, although lastyear was the first year of crisis for the construction market since2000.
The third most profitable construction company in Romania in2009 was Giurgiu-based Romstrade with a 37.8 million-euro grossprofit.
