11.02.2004, 00:00 11

United Kingdom's Ambassador in Bucharest, Quinton Quayle, on Monday met with Constanta Prefect Gheorghe Martin to discuss certain details about reinvesting the funds derived from the purchase of the two frigates from the UK. Quinton Quayle says the contract is worth $180 million and the money paid by the Romanian Government for the ships will be reinvested in Romania. The British official added that contracts to invest $30 million (20% of the total amount in the deal for the purchase of the two warships) had already been found. The British diplomat also stated that Constanta County was regarded as a key point in the bilateral and commercial relations between the United Kingdom and Romania. He said that a meeting at the summit had been held in November last year when 60 British business people expressed interest to invest in Romania. ZF
