Stronger RON hurts Rombat''s business

05.10.2005, 18:52 7

Car battery manufacturer Rombat Bistrita will offset its decline in sales on the domestic market by boosting exports and through a contract to supply batteries for Logan cars. The company is experiencing hardships on the domestic market due to the strong sales of new cars, which led to a decline in demand for replacement batteries. The company will see its growth in turnover decline this year, after having seen more than 20% growth over the last few years. "The main difficulties we''ve had on the domestic market were pressure from imports favoured by the current exchange rate for the euro and the short term shrinking of the battery market due to the increase in life spans for products manufactured using a new technology based on calcium," company officials explained. The company managed to offset the decline of the domestic market by boosting initial equipment batteries, a segment that has seen significant development this year. The traditional clients of the Transylvanian manufacturer for initial equipment batteries are Dacia Renault and Tractorul Brasov. ZF
