Santal brings 8m euros to Parmalat producer

Parmalat Romania, producer of Santal soft drinks, posted sales worth over 8 million euros in the first six months of the year, up 50% against the first half of 2006. "The hot summer had a major contribution to the sales increase, as did the promotional campaign for the wellness line Santal Top, so that the first half generated an almost 50% turnover increase in euros against the same time in 2006," stated Giampaolo Manzonetto, manager of Parmalat Romania. During the summer period, the still drinks and ice tea segments see 100% higher sales than nectars and juices, with Parmalat currently operating over all these market segments. The non-carbonated soft drink Santal Top, positioned on the still drinks segment (which includes natural juices with up to a 25% fruit content) was launched in August last year and is in direct competition with products such as Prigat (Pepsi Americas), Cappy Ice Fruit (Coca-Cola) and Tymbark Cool (Tymbark Maspex). Parmalat Romania estimates to sell 17 million litres this year, whilst registering a twice as high growth rate as last year.
