Ana Hotels estimates to make $16 million turnover this year and see profit up 9%-12%, considering it will complete a series of investments it began in 2002. Ana Hotels last year posted 356.7bn ROL ($10.8 million) turnover and 44.3bn ROL in net profit.
"Modernisation of the two hotels in Eforie Nord, Astoria and Europa is in progress and the investment estimated for this year is worth approximately 15 million euros. Astoria Hotel will be reopened in the second half of June, while the Europa Complex will be dedicated in the first ten days of August," Paul Marasoiu, Ana Hotels general manager said.
The modernisation of the Astoria Hotel was allocated 750,000 euros of the total investment in Eforie Nord, with the rest set to cover the renovation of Europa Hotel to be ranked as four stars, as well as preparing the conference centre and the Ana Spa Institute - a relaxation, therapy and medical recuperation centre.
Ana Hotels bought the Europa hotel complex in November 2001 following a tender organised by the Banking Assets Resolution Authority (AVAB). It then acquired Astoria for 25.1bn ROL during a tender organised by the Tourism Ministry in May 2002.
Ana Hotels has also allotted 270,000 euros for works in the Poiana Brasov resort, which include the modernisation of the Sport Hotel restaurant, fitting the ski slope, replacing the cable of the cable car system, as well as rebuilding the electrical power supply system in the hotel complex.
Beside the two hotels in Eforie Nord, the company also owns Crowne Plaza Hotel and La Belle Aaâ¬Â°poque pub in Bucharest, as well as Sportul, Bradul and Poiana Hotels, Ana Teleferic Company and a ski school in Poiana Brasov. Ana Group, controlled by businessman George Copos also includes Ana Pan, Ana Electronic, Ana IMEP, Ana Turism, Fast Service Electronica, as well as the UFC Rapid club and Pro Rapid sports centre.
