Rohan leaves younger manager at the helm of Carpatcement

Mihai Rohan, 65, the most experienced Romanian manager in thecement industry, who has been general manager of CarpatcementHolding for ten years, will at the end of this year hand overexecutive management of the company to Florian Aldea, 47.


The man whose career in the sector spans 42 years, and who wasdirector of the conglomerate that brought together all cementfacilities even before 1989, will remain chairman of the Board ofDirectors of Carpatcement for another two years. Rohan took over atthe helm of the local subsidiary of German group Heidelberg in2000, which posted an annual turnover of around 40 million dollarsthrough its two Romanian plants in Deva and Bicaz. The turnoverrose constantly, reaching 294 million euros in 2007 and 2008 and a30% profit margin. Between 2005 and 2009 the Germans postedcumulated profits of 344 million euros through the subsidiary runby Rohan, but at present the business is in decline in light of thereal estate crisis.
"It is time for me to withdraw from operational activity, pass thebaton to a young professional and dedicate more time to familylife," Rohan now says.
