Rohan leaves younger manager at the helm of Carpatcement
Mihai Rohan, 65, the most experienced Romanian manager in the cement industry, who has been general manager of Carpatcement Holding for ten years, will at the end of this year hand over executive management of the company to Florian Aldea, 47.
The man whose career in the sector spans 42 years, and who was
director of the conglomerate that brought together all cement
facilities even before 1989, will remain chairman of the Board of
Directors of Carpatcement for another two years. Rohan took over at
the helm of the local subsidiary of German group Heidelberg in
2000, which posted an annual turnover of around 40 million dollars
through its two Romanian plants in Deva and Bicaz. The turnover
rose constantly, reaching 294 million euros in 2007 and 2008 and a
30% profit margin. Between 2005 and 2009 the Germans posted
cumulated profits of 344 million euros through the subsidiary run
by Rohan, but at present the business is in decline in light of the
real estate crisis.
"It is time for me to withdraw from operational activity, pass the
baton to a young professional and dedicate more time to family
life," Rohan now says.
