The local restaurant market, where fast-food chains like McDonald's, KFC and Pizza Hut prevail, will double over the next two years, and is expected to reach over two billion euros, driven forward by the emergence of office buildings. The restaurant market in Romania amounted to one billion euros in 2007, having increased by 30% over the last three years, from 0.42 million euros in 2003, reveals the survey of Visionwise research company, part of the Daedalus Group. Restaurateurs say many restaurants opened as a result of the emergence of office buildings, because people who work in a business environment prefer to meet their business partners at a restaurant. At the same time, many people started to visit restaurants in their lunch break or order from restaurants' catering services. The restaurant market will double in the next two years and reach two billion euros in 2010. The improvement in living standards means that one in three Romanians ate out at least once in the past month, even though only nine out of 100 ate out five times in the last four weeks.
