Remex, Reghin-based furniture manufacturer, estimates turnover worth 5.5 million euros for 2007, up 10% on last year. "We estimate a 10% turnover increase this year, against results registered in 2006, taking into consideration the stability of the Romanian workforce and the rise in the standard of living in European Union member countries, which we export furniture to," Ioan Joarza, general manager of Remex, told ZF Transilvania. The company currently exports solid wood furniture to markets in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland. Remex has invested 300,000 euros between 2006 and 2007 for the acquisition of new equipment in order to increase the company's productivity. Remex produces various types of living room and bedroom furniture, made from oak, poplar and birch, which are sold under the Coburg, Bavaria and Kassel brands. According to players on this niche market, exports to western markets saw a 4% decline in the first half of the year compared with the first half of 2006, in line with a moderate downward trend registered over the last 2-3 years. Remex was formed in 1995. The company's shareholders include Ioan Joarza, who holds 26.33% of shares, Maria Joarza (26.61%), company employees (38.6%) and SIF Banat-Crisana (10%).
