23.09.2008, 21:13 10

The population's overdue payments went down by over 3% in July against June - the most severe reduction of the last few years. June also brought a decline, but a lower one. Although there have been other declines in terms of volume over the last few years, they were never recorded for two months in a row. The total volume of overdue payments fell to 680 million RON (192 million euros) in July, according to statistics from the National Bank, which takes data from the Credit Bureau. The volume remains significantly higher than the level recorded in 2007, and even the one posted the first half of this year. After these corrections, the annual growth rate of overdue payments slowed down to just 43%, from 73% in May and 106% in December last year. In fact, this is the fifth consecutive month of a slowdown. The peak rise had been reached in July last year, when it amounted to 119%.
