Iulius gets green light for mall in Timisoara

12.02.2003, 00:00 14

After having "threatened" to build a mall in Timisoara for a long time, the Iulius Group says it is ready to do it now. The group will start building a shopping complex in this city in April, under a $30 million investment. The company got all the necessary permits to proceed to the construction of a mall on the current location of some SNR (National Radio-communications Company) antennas. Iulius will pay about $2 million to move SNR's equipment to the new location in Ortisoara, where the necessary building and annexes to host the company's equipment have already been erected. "We estimate the operation to last about a month. We will finally see the two antennas taken down and the radio broadcast handled by the radio stations in Ortisoara at the end of March," Gheorghe Atudoroaie, Iulius Group general manager said. The construction works will take up approximately twelve months. The complex will be 54,000 sqm wide and is set to include a supermarket, a multiplex cinema, a beauty parlour, bars and restaurants, a bowling alley and a sports facility on the terrace. Iulius Mall Timisoara is part of an extensive development programme of Iulius Group, which has produced the Iulius Shopping Center in Iasi and the Terra shopping complex in Timisoara. Iulius is planning to expand its mall network to Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Brasov, Arad and Oradea, as well. ZF
