Higher profit amid lower sales for Bermas

Bermas Suceava brewery saw slightly lower sales in the first half of this year, of 14.1 million RON (about 4 million euros), compared with 16.7 million RON in the corresponding period of last year. At the same time, the company''s net income stood at 1.5 million RON (about 0.42 million euros), 11% higher as compared to the first six months of last year. "The sales volume and implicitly the volume of production significantly dropped as compared to the corresponding period of last year. The bad weather of the period considered made an impact on the beer consumption," say the representatives of Suceava-based company. The volume of Bermas'' production slid by about 19% in the period under consideration. Bermas banks on full-year turnover worth 42.6 million RON (about 12 million euros) and net profit of around 4.4 million RON. At the beginning of the year, Bermas management decided to offer its customers, free of charge and for temporary use, equipment and accessories for the sale of beer. The beer market last year reached 600 million euros (14m hectolitres), slightly higher than the previous year, when it amounted to 550 million euros (12.8 million hectolitres). ZF
