FrieslandCampina Romania, producer of dairy brands Milli andNapolact, ended last year with an around 100 million-euro turnover, down by around 20% against the similar period of 2008, according toZF calculation based on data supplied by the company.
"Our around 100 million-euro turnover was strongly affected both bythe decline of the dairy markets as a result of the financialcrisis, and by the sale of ice cream operations in 2009. Similarly, our operating income was lower than in 2008, which reflects ourefforts to protect our market shares and sales in an unfavourablebusiness environment, as well as reflecting the absence of icecream operations," said Oana Frunzar, financial manager ofFrieslandCampina Romania, the local subsidiary of the Dutch giantof the same name.
Frunzar did not, however, reveal the operating profit posted byFrieslandCampina Romania in 2009 or the progression of thecompany's leading brands in terms of market share. This is thefirst turnover decline for the producer of the Milli brand on theRomanian market after five years when FrieslandCampina topped theranking of dairy local producers in terms of turnover.
In the first part of 2009, however, FrieslandCampina sold Napocaice cream brand to Unilever, producer of Dero detergent and Ramamargarine.
