Economy and Finance Ministry intends to introduce new legislative measures on collection of excise duties and VAT and intensify control to fight tax evasion in order to boost budget revenues. "We are devising together with ANAF (The National Fiscal Administration Agency) a set a steps to curb tax evasion and have informed the Prime Minister of our wish to come up with some measures by the second half of August, to regulate transactions inside the community, too. Because we estimate that there is enough tax evasion in terms of VAT and excises in Romania to warrant legislative steps," Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian told ZF. The authorities want the new measures to help them regulate the collection of excise duties, especially for petroleum, and make them more efficient in order to boost budget revenues.
