Dumagas Transport in Craiova, one of the leading road carriersof goods, with turnover worth almost 40 million euros in 2008, isthe first carrier on the Romanian market to have sealed a contractwith Ford Romania. "We sealed a transport contract with FordCraiova," said Mihai Dugaesescu, who owns Dumagas Transport, addingthat he could not provide further details due to confidentialityclauses. Therefore, the value of the contract is not known andneither are the products that the company will carry. Dumagas willmost likely transport components and parts for the Ford plant inCraiova, according to ZF information. Ford started production ofTransit Connect light utility vehicle on September 8th, with thefirst models to be delivered to Ford dealers in Central and EasternEurope, Romania included, starting in the near future. Distributionof Ford models onto the Romanian market will continue to be handledby Romcar, the brand's importer on the Romanian market, which ispart of Tiriac Holdings.
