Distrigaz Sud, strategic shareholder of Wirom Gas

15.03.2004, 00:00 13

Distrigaz Sud, one of the two major state-run natural gas distribution companies has become shareholder of trader Wirom Gas, following the recent acquisition of 40% in the company from natural gas carrier Transgaz Medias. The deal, which was really worth very little, is actually a strategic move intended to help run a partnership reached by Distrigaz Sud with Germany-based Wintershall that pursues establishment of local gas distribution companies in southern Romania as Wirom Gas branches. The trader of natural gases imported from Russia will practically enter the gas distribution market. "The deal was worth 40 million ROL (1,000 euros), while the share capital amounts to 100 million ROL. A substantial capital increase will follow shortly, and will be worth about one million euros, as required to tackle the gas distribution market," Liviu Duinea, Distrigaz Sud general manager told Ziarul Financiar.
