Canned foods producer Hame Romania, one of the leading players on the domestic market, which holds a production facility in Caracal, has stated an interested in acquiring another market player for at least 5 million euros, in a deal that could be finalised later this year. The company has recently completed the modernisation of the former Romconserv canned food plant in Caracal. "We are looking for a new acquisition in order to increase our market share, as well as to achieve several synergies on the domestic market," said the majority shareholder of the Ham? group, Leos Novotny. According to Novotny, the company is looking for large players involved in the production of canned vegetables and meat. "We are particularly interested in domestic producers selling canned vegetables, vegetable stew and pickled cucumbers, the best-selling products on the domestic canned food market. The most important element we are looking for in a producer is that it has a strong market brand," said Bohumil Vrablik, exports manager of the Hame group.
