Compa hires 290 people to bolster its turnover by 71%

Compa Sibiu (CMP) car part producer, a company controlled byemployees, in first half hired around 290 workers to fill thegrowing number of orders mainly coming from its foreign partners,Delphi and Bosch. This allowed it to boost its turnover by 71% to44.5m euros in the first six months.

The firm increased its personnel by around 20% to 1,720employees in the first half, while in recent years the number ofemployees has constantly slid.
The producer is, besides Interagro group of businessman IoanNiculae, the only Romanian-held company that in 2009 managed toposition itself among the 50 largest exporters in Romania.
"We've managed to develop solid business relationships and gainforeign partners' confidence, which came with new projects and willsupport the company's growth in the following period as well.Though we want it, we haven't managed to find any segment todevelop a project with a firm of Romania," says Ioan Deac, generalmanager of Compa Sibiu.
Compa is one of the few firms privatised through the MEBO methodthat managed to reorganise completely when traditional demand felland exports currently weigh over 90% in turnover, while ten yearsago the company was entirely dependent on the domestic market.
