23.09.2008, 21:17 25

Paper producer Comceh Calarasi, a leading players in the industry, which derived turnover worth around 36 million euros in 2007, has closed down its writing paper plant, which had an overall production capacity of 22,000 tonnes. Contacted by ZF, company representatives confirmed the termination of production of writing paper, and said there had so far been no legal measure taken, with more information to be provided next week concerning the closure and the number of plant employees. Comceh, held by Luxembourg-based Cartalux, has two production facilities, one for tissue paper (tissues, toilet paper, kitchen towels), and another for writing paper. The two production facilities employ almost 370 people, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. After the shutdown of the writing paper division, the Calarasi-based producer will only make finished products derived from tissue paper under its own brands, Volare, SunFlowers, Onda and OndaCasa, as well as semi-finished products, used by other companies to manufacture tissue paper products.
