Coca-Cola Hellenic, the largest non-alcoholic drinks bottler on the Romanian market, posted turnover worth 550 million euros last year (2,028.6 million RON) on the Romanian market and a net profit worth 66 million euros (243.7 million RON), according to data from the Romanian Trade Registry. The producer sold around 1.2 billion litres of soft drinks and water last year, amid an estimated 50% market share. According to the data reported, each litre of soft drinks sold brought the Coca-Cola producer a net profit of 5.5 eurocents (0.2 RON). Last year, Coca-Cola preserved its profit rate at around 12%, boosting its profit at the same pace as its turnover, by 7%. In 2007, data centralised by ZF point to a 9% net profit rate for the top ten players in the sector, with the best-performing ones being Pepsi and Red Bull (with rates of 17-18%). However, the more moderate consumption in the last few months of 2008 and the lack of a heat wave in the summer slowed down the rise of Coca-Cola's business, from an average of 30-40% in 2005-2007 to a 7% rise last year against the previous year. Coca-Cola representatives declined to comment on the results.
