Car market keeps on rising

19.10.2005, 22:00 12

Sales of new cars reached almost 188,000 units in the first nine months of the year. This is more than the entire sales during the whole of last year, which was considered the best year since 1989. With 157,000 cars and 30,000 commercial vehicles sold, sales of new vehicles on the domestic market far exceeded the expectations announced earlier in the year by the main players in the industry. Both local carmaker Dacia and imported brands saw orders for new cars rise significantly this year, pushing sales up 50% for the first nine months. Still, the rapid growth in car sales slowed in September to 17%. September last year was the month when Dacia began selling its Logan model, for which orders heavily outstripped the carmaker''s actual output. The nearly 20,000 new vehicles sold in September took the three-quarter total to 188,000, of which cars accounted for 157,300 units. This translates into a 60.1% growth on the same time last year, according to data from the Association of Automotive Manufacturers and Importers (APIA). ZF
