CA targets transactions worth 200m euros

12.02.2008, 19:45 15

Consilium Advisors, a financial consulting company recently established by three bankers, expects to broker transactions worth 200 million euros during its first year in business.
"As bankers, we felt there was a need for tailor-made consulting for large corporate clients, and so we decided to take this opportunity," says Florin Tat, a partner with Consilium Advisors.
Before starting the company, Tat (33) was in charge of the corporate division of Alpha Bank. The other two partners are also former bankers from Alpha: Marian Urzica (39), is the bank's former treasurer, and Bogdan Nichisoiu (28), the former relationship manager who was responsible for overseeing projects that provided funding for the FMCG and real estate sectors.
To begin with, Consilium Advisors will focus on corporate finance and provide consulting services for companies that want to structure their finances and devise projects, according to Marian Urzica, who managed liquidities worth over 3 billion euros as Alpha Bank's treasurer. Before he entered consulting, Urzica was at the helm of Alpha Bank's treasury for more than ten years (1996 to 2007). In addition, at the end of 2006, he spent a month working in private banking at one of Merril Lynch's branches in the USA.
"We intend to provide even better customized services than those granted by banks to large clients," explains Urzica. Consilium Advisors will mainly target companies that are involved in transactions worth over 2 million euros.
Future projects include consultancy for accessing structural funds and consultancy for mergers and acquisitions. The beneficiaries of EU funds must conduct an investment project, but contribute at least 25% of the sum, which can, however, be covered through a bank credit. In fact, many banks have chosen to specialise in this niche, and have developed consultancy departments for attracting structural funds.
