Asirom to boost capital by 2.5m euros

Asirom is to increase its share capital by around 90bn ROL (2.48 million euros) through an issue of new shares. The increase will be submitted to the General Meeting of Shareholders for approval next week, according to Steluta Racolta, Asiroma??s sales manager. The insurer currently has 17.6 million euros (637.8bn ROL) in capital. Racolta provided no further details of the operation. According to company data sent to the RASDAQ, Asiroma??s general insurance business saw gross premiums underwritten for the first three months of 2005 of nearly 60 million euros (2,197.6bn ROL), while gross claim settlements for the same segment amounted to 14 million euros (521bn ROL). On the life insurance segment, the company underwrote gross premiums with a value of 6.1 million euros (226.8bn ROL) and had gross settled claims of 3.8 million euros (143bn ROL). Asirom posted 82,000 euros (3bn ROL) of losses from the general insurance segment, while life insurance generated 345,400 euros (12.8bn ROL) in profits. ZF
