Asirom holds 80m euros in deposits, current accounts and bonds

Asirom, one of the largest insurers on the market, has 287.2 million RON (80 million euros) in deposits, current accounts and bonds, according to the end-of-2007 data in the company's annual report. Sums placed in deposits totalled 177.6 million RON (49.3 million euros) at the end of last year, cash sums and sums placed in bank accounts - 91.4 million RON (25.4 million euros), with the rest of the money being invested in bonds, fund units and T-bills. Asirom also holds stakes worth almost 56 million RON (15.5 million euros) in various trading companies, most of which will be sold over the course of this year. This step is meant to improve the company's profitability, according to previous statements from Asirom's management. According to the annual report, the insurer holds stakes in Intercereal Fetesti (99%), Complex Carmen Venus (99.8%), Concordia (99.2%), Club ARO (52%), Asirom Leasing (40%), Zaharul Zimnicea (35%), Rafinaria Astra Romana (21.91%), Cerealcom Alexandria (9.99%), Bursa Romana de Marfuri (The Romanian Commodities Exchange) (0.53%) and others.
