Aquila Group, one of the largest consumer goods distributors on the market, closed two new partnerships this year, to expand its transportation activities in the EU, with DHL Euronet and Logesta, respectively. "Accession has provided us with opportunities to develop our transportation activities through new operations in the EU. In June, we started to work with DHL Euronet for transportation services on fixed routes that link EU countries. Another recent partnership is with Logesta, one of the largest logistic operators in Europe," said Ileana Costanda, marketing manager of Aquila Group. The development opportunities of domestic transporters and logistic operators are the result of a shift in European logistics' focus towards the East, along with the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the EU. The group estimates business worth over 155 million euros this year, from its activities in Romania and on European markets. Aquila Group posted business worth around 135 million euros last year, up 16% against the preceding year, both in Romania and on the three foreign markets where it operates, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Bulgaria. The FMCG division of the Aquila Group also included SCA Hygiene Products on its list of partnerships, a Swedish company which produces Zewa paper napkins and Libero
diapers.
