20.10.2006, 19:05 9

Volksbank Romania's assets doubled against the end of last year, exceeding the one billion-euro mark in late September. The bank did not release information on other indicators for the end of September. In September Volksbank operated a capital increase worth 59 million RON (approximately 17 million euros) that has resulted in the bank's share capital increasing to 229.1 million RON (almost 65 million euros). Volksbank reached 100,000 clients, most of them individuals at the end of September. The bank's focus is on the retail segment, after all. The asset increase was sustained by the expansion of the territorial network, which has reached 108 branches, out of which 68 are its own branches and 40 are operated by franchisees. By the end of the year, Volksbank plans to operate 80 branches of its own and 50 franchised branches.
