VAE Apcarom wants double profit this year

Net profit estimated by Buzau-based company VAE Apcarom for this year is almost 11 billion lei, double than in 1999 when it stood at 5.05 billion lei, shows the incomes and expenditures budget of the company, which was approved during the General Assembly of Shareholders on March 15. "VAE Apcarom's main clients in 1999 were CFR (Romanian Railways) and Metrorex and about 15 percent of the output was exported," the company's general manager Vintila Mocanu told Ziarul Financiar. In the balance drafted at the end of last year, gross profit posted by the company increased to 10.43 billion lei, shows the report of the General Assembly of Shareholders. Total revenues registered by VAE Apcarom last year were 170.116 billion lei, while total expenses amounted to 169.66 billion lei. This year the company plans to invest about a million euros and to launch the new type of railway screw called "Trifona." For this year, the management of VAE Apcarom estimates a turnover of 184.29 billion lei, slightly higher than the turnover of 1999. However, gross profit will register an increase of about 50 percent to 15.66 billion lei. Total incomes estimated for 2000 are 184.29 billion lei and total expenses are estimated at 168.63 billion lei. VAE Apcarom has a share capital of 73.79 billion lei, divided into shares with a nominal value of 1,000 lei. Significant shareholders of the company include the Austrian company VAE Aktiengesellschaft, with the main stake of 77.4 percent of the shares and Broadhurst Investments Ltd with a stake of 5.8 percent, the rest of shares belonging to small investors. VAE Apcarom operates in the field of transports and is the main supplier of CFR and Metrorex. Apcarom shares are traded on the second tier of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, the reference price registered over the last trading session on Tuesday being 340 lei/share, 2.8 percent lower than the previous session.
