Tymbark Maspex Romania, the producer of Tymbark juices and La Festa instant chocolate, generated net income worth 4.6 million euros last year, approximately 60% higher than in 2005.
During the same period, the company's sales advanced by 16%, to almost 42 million euros. The producer expects to derive sales worth 50 million euros this year, in line with the previously registered growth pace.
"Investments in new products, as well as the development of existing products drove income up," stated Krzysztof Grabowski, general manager with Tymbark Maspex Romania. Tymbark Maspex this year finalised investments worth 2.5 million euros in the natural juice plant in Valenii de Munte (Prahova county), to boost production capacity by around 30%. Over the past three years, Tymbark has invested more than 25 million euros in the facility in Prahova, according to company data.
The company also banks on exports in the coming years, which currently account for 17% in production generated in Valenii de Munte.
Besides natural juice production, Poland's Maspex group is also present in Romania with its instant hot drinks, through La Festa, Coffeeta or Ekoland brands.
Tymbark has become the company's most important brand in the past year, currently covering several product categories, such as nectars, 100% juices and still drinks. The three brands owned by Tymbark Maspex Romania (Tymbark, Tedi and Ciao) last year accounted for a 30% share of the nectars segment together, thus putting the company in the lead, according to Nielsen 2006 data quoted by Tymbark representatives.
Tymbark Maspex Romania was set up in 1996, starting La Festa cappuccino production on the Romanian market in the same year. Later on, in 2002, Tymbark invested 7 million euros in a plant in Valenii de Munte, which currently produces for foreign markets such as Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey or Slovakia as well.
The main rivals of the Tymbark Maspex Romania, part of the Polish Maspex Group, are Parmalat, QAB, European Drinks, Coca-Cola HBC and Carlsrom Beverages.
The soft drinks market last year saw overall growth by 10.2% against the previous year. At present, the most dynamic segment is that of non-carbonated drinks, with ice tea, nectar and natural juice categories posting the highest growth rates.
