Two Romanian consortia vying for Electroputere

14.02.2005, 00:00 8

The privatisation of Electroputere Craiova, one of the last major companies included in the state's portfolio, has attracted only two Romanian consortia by the deadline for submitting final bids. The German Siemens giant submitted a letter of interest for Electroputere Craiova, but asked for an extension of the deadline considering it too tight, sources close to the privatisation process said. The battle for the acquisition of 62% in Electroputere will be fought between the consortium made up of Somes Dej and Contactoare Buzau, both of them part of the Serviciile Comerciale Romane (Romanian Commercial Services - SCR) group, controlled by businessman Stefan Vuza, and the one comprising Cuprom and Amteck Investitii companies, along with an individual investor, Gheorghe Nitu. "The final bids by the two consortia will be analysed to check if they meet the established criteria," said Gabriel Zbarcea, chairman of the State Asset Resolution Agency (AVAS). ZF
