Touareg, the luxury SUV made by German carmaker Volkswagen, has seen sales of 250 units during the first four months of the year, up more than 130% on the same period last year, according to data provided by Porsche Romania, the importer for the German group on the local market. The growth in sales confirms a return of interest in SUVs, after growth on the segment fell over the last two years compared with the boom seen the end of the 1990s. The number of SUVs is clearly increasing. The Touareg faces competition on the SUV segment from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Land Rover, Nissan, Subaru and even its bigger brother, the Porsche Cayenne. Touareg price starts from close to 35,000 euros (excluding tax) and can reach 72,500 euros (including tax), depending on options. ZF
