The capital city "seizes" 45% of new jobs

Data published by the National Statistics Institute (INS) show that Bucharest and Ilfov county have created 45% of new jobs over the last two years. Over the last two years (November 2004 - November 2006, i.e. the latest available data), the number of employees grew by almost 324,000, of which almost 118,000 (37%) people Bucharest, and another 25,000 (8%) in Ilfov. Bucharest remains the indisputable leader of the employment ranking, with close to 850,000 people, far more than the second top city, Timis county, which employs an estimated 210,000. Meanwhile, statistics that monitor the number of jobs created put Bucharest on top, while Ilfov ranks second. llfov has undergone an incredible surge in the number of jobs created, approximately 43% over the last two years. The employment figures in Ilfov went up by over 25,000 during the two-year period to 84,000. Timis was the highest ranking county in the West of Romania, which ranked third, having created 23,000 new jobs, a rise in the number of employees by over 12%.
