Tender wants to build Comarnic-Brasov bridges

Vulcan Bucuresti, controlled by businessman Ovidiu Tender, wantsto become one of the leading bridge suppliers for theComarnic-Brasov motorway over the next few years and of equipmentfor the 3rd and 4th reactors in Cernavoda power plant (SE Romania).The two projects, with a cumulated value of over 5 billion euros,can generate substantial growth for the Vulcan business,considering that 70% of Vulcan's current business is accounted forby steam generators. "At present there is huge potential forinfrastructure works. The starting point was the contract recentlysigned with the Aktor group for building a steel bridge as part ofBucharest's orbital road. We want to position ourselves as one ofthe leading suppliers for the nine bridges part of theComarnic-Brasov motorway," says Peter Eisenkolb, CEO of VulcanBucuresti.
The steel bridge built for Greek company Aktor, is estimated to beworth 2 million euros, according to market sources. Vulcan, listedon the RASDAQ market, has yet to publish its financial results for2009, but saw 2.5 million RON in losses six months into the year,compared with an around 850,000-RON net profit in the similarperiod of last year. The company posted 42.36 million (around 10million euros) in turnover in the first half of 2009, down 9.8%against the similar time of the previous year. In 2008, thecompany, which has 1,200 employees, posted 91 million RON inturnover. Ovidiu Tender controls the Tender group, with 250 milliondollars in annual business, in energy, constructions and realestate.
