Tender wants to build Comarnic-Brasov bridges
Vulcan Bucuresti, controlled by businessman Ovidiu Tender, wants
to become one of the leading bridge suppliers for the
Comarnic-Brasov motorway over the next few years and of equipment
for the 3rd and 4th reactors in Cernavoda power plant (SE Romania).
The two projects, with a cumulated value of over 5 billion euros,
can generate substantial growth for the Vulcan business,
considering that 70% of Vulcan's current business is accounted for
by steam generators. "At present there is huge potential for
infrastructure works. The starting point was the contract recently
signed with the Aktor group for building a steel bridge as part of
Bucharest's orbital road. We want to position ourselves as one of
the leading suppliers for the nine bridges part of the
Comarnic-Brasov motorway," says Peter Eisenkolb, CEO of Vulcan
Bucuresti.
The steel bridge built for Greek company Aktor, is estimated to be
worth 2 million euros, according to market sources. Vulcan, listed
on the RASDAQ market, has yet to publish its financial results for
2009, but saw 2.5 million RON in losses six months into the year,
compared with an around 850,000-RON net profit in the similar
period of last year. The company posted 42.36 million (around 10
million euros) in turnover in the first half of 2009, down 9.8%
against the similar time of the previous year. In 2008, the
company, which has 1,200 employees, posted 91 million RON in
turnover. Ovidiu Tender controls the Tender group, with 250 million
dollars in annual business, in energy, constructions and real
estate.
