German clothing retailer Takko, which operates discount stores, has exceeded forecasts in terms of store openings scheduled for this year, and targets a total of 53 stores across Romania by May 2010. "We already have 15 stores, and, by the end of the year, we will open another 7, in Oradea, Focsani, Bacau, Constanta and Bucharest," Cosmin Ulmeanu, sales manager of Takko Fashion International Romania, told ZF. By the end of the company's fiscal year (May 2009), the retailer has plans to open another 12 Takko stores, and 20 more in the following year. The company avoids main street locations, because its discount policy does not allow it to pay rents of around 100 euros per square metre per month.
