Styropan, based in Buzau, a part of the Taiwanese group Living Plastic, will invest around 20 million euros in the coming two years to expand the production facility for thermal-insulating materials (extruded polystyrene, expanded polystyrene, adhesives and dry mortars), which it holds in Buzau and Arad, as well as open a production facility in Ukraine. Following these investments, company representatives forecast a 100 million-euro turnover by the end of 2010, ten times more than last year. "We will expand production facilities in Buzau and Arad, and we want to either buy or build a production facility in the North-East of Romania, which will allow us to approach the NE and the central part of Romania," Carmen Manaila, general manager of Styropan, told ZF. The investments will allow for the current production capacity of expanded polystyrene panels - Zentyss EPAN to double to 2 million cubic metres per year, and for the current production capacity of extruded polystyrene panels - Zentyss XPAN, to triple, to 350,000 cubic metres per year, by installing a new line of production in the Arad plant and by building a line for adhesives and dry mortars in Buzau, with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes a year.
