The new Dacia Sandero Stepway, the first crossover in the history of the Romanian carmaker, which will be officially launched on the Romanian market on Wednesday, will cost 450 euros more than the Sandero, according to sources in the dealer network, which makes it the cheapest crossover sold on the Romanian market, with its price starting from 8,200 euros. Sandero Stepway will be available in two engines versions, a 1.6-litre, 90 HP petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre dCi, 70 HP diesel engine. The starting price for the 1.6-litre, 90 HP engine version will be 8,200 euros, VAT included, for the Ambiance base version, which has ABS, but no air conditioning. The cheapest version to include air conditioning will be Laureate, costing 9,800 euros. The most expensive model will be the one with a diesel engine and Prestige trim, which will cost 11,500 euros. This model will, however, include electric windows, air conditioning, ABS and alloy rims. Unlike the Sandero model, Stepway has a higher ground clearance, chrome finish bumpers and roof bars, and is also available in three metallic colours, which, in the case of the Sandero, come at the extra cost of 255 euros. On the B-segment of crossovers, Sandero Stepway will compete with the Ford Fusion, which has a starting price of 10,936 euros, VAT included, for the 1.25-litre and 75-HP engine, which has a double airbag, radio and CD player, but no air conditioning available for its base equipment.
