Salonta posts 75% increase

Charcuterie producer Salonta, held by the shareholders of wine producer Murfatlar, last year saw a 4% market share increase, to 12.6%. According to company representatives, Salonta saw a 1% increase in the last quarter of 2006 alone, amid higher sales of premium products. "The charcuterie producer also saw a 75% sales increase as a result of promoting of the brands and a more efficient product distribution throughout the country, by increasing the number of stores where the products are present. Salonta invested over 1.2 million euros in retooling its plant last year, in order to increase production capacity. Salonta's portfolio includes premium dry-cured charcuterie, with the best-known products including Paradis salami varieties, Sibiu salami, Paprika and Plai sausages. The Salonta factory is a part of Principal Company, a company which holds another charcuterie plant in Filipestii de Padure, Prahova county. The majority shareholder of the two companies is Signus Romania Distribution, a distributor of Euroavipo, which holds shares in wine maker Murfatlar.
