Rotary and Bog'Art in the race for retrofitting Government HQ

The construction company, which will retrofit Palatul Victoria (Victoria Palace), the Government headquarters, a project estimated at 13 million euros, will be selected via direct negotiations between the RA-APPS (the institution that manages such assets) on one side, and Rotary and Bog'Art one the other, after the third tender failed due to a lack of bids. The Regie, which administers the Government building, had, until yesterday's deadline, received only two bids, submitted by Rotary and Bog'Art, although the documentation for taking part in the tender had been purchased by six companies, according to Government sources. The legal requirement for the tender to succeed was three bids. Ilie Bolojan, the Secretary General of the Government in charge of RA-APPS, said he would ask the Government to approve direct negotiations involving the two bidders as a means for selection. "The law allows for direct negotiations to be used with a view to choosing a firm for the retrofitting of Palatul Victoria, as it is a strategic building," said Bolojan. In July, official sources said that total sums required for retrofitting and modernising Palatul Victoria stood at around 30 million euros. The project will begin with works to retrofit the building, which is estimated to cost 13 million euros and will continue with the upgrade of the palace, which will require another 17 million euros.
