Romstal, a Romanian-held company and one of the main players on the sanitary ware distribution market, last year reported a turnover worth 200 million euros, up 33% on 2005.
Last year, Romstal's operating income advanced by 32.35% totalling 22.5 million euros, from 17 million euros in 2005. The activities of Romstal in Romania account for 70% of the company's turnover, namely 140 million euros, 30% higher than the level reached in 2005. The operations the company carries out in the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Italy last year generated a turnover worth 60 million euros.
Romstal is the most important company within the Romstal group, which also includes Valrom Industrie, Valplast Industrie, Belform Prod, Dezim Development, IOS Software Solutions, Center Service Instal, Autoklass Center and City Garden Distribution.
For the entire group, the turnover in 2006 amounted to 310 million euros, 40% higher in comparison with the previous year. The company accounts for its solid growth by the expansion of its domestic and international operations and in the diversification of its product portfolio.
"Each of the companies within the group witnessed a rapid growth rate in 2006. The diversification of the product range and ongoing investments were the catalysts for growth last year," stated Ovidiu Henter, chief executive of Romstal.
The Romstal company comprises six specialised units, Thermo, Hydro, Sanni, Electro and Ceramic, which together provide more than 20,000 products.
The Electro unit boasted the strongest increase last year reporting 239% higher sales year-on-year, amid the high market demand and an expansion of the distribution network.
"Romstal's performance was as we predicted. We want to maintain the same upward trend in the following period, as well," Henter added.
Present on the market since 1994, in recent years Romstal has embraced a foreign expansion policy opening offices in the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Italy. In 2006, Romstal opened 13 new outlets, 7 of which were located in Romania, 3 in Ukraine, 2 in the Republic of Moldova and one in Italy. In the same year, Romstal Imex acquired two Univers'all stores in Targu-Mures and Suceava, in a deal put at more than 5 million euros.
The company operated investments worth 36 million euros last year in the development of its warehousing capacities.
