Romcar Motors sells 65% more cars in first half

Romcar Motors, a Ford authorised dealer, during January-July period sold a number of 1,223 cars, up 65% compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to the company. In July, Romcar Motors, the Ford authorised dealer with the biggest sales volume in Romania, sold 225 Ford vehicles, 50% more units than the volume registered in the same month of 2005, according to a company release. Romcar Motors is the biggest dealer of Romcar company, the representative of Ford brand in Romania since 1992. Last year, Romcar posted gross income standing at 7 million RON (around two million euros) last year, after having reported losses amounting to 1.6 million RON in 2004. Net turnover for 2005 reached 57.8 million RON (16 million euros), 27% lower compared with the previous year. Romcar sells 12 car models on the Romanian market. The company controls a network of 20 authorised dealers countrywide. In the first half of this year, Ford announced it held 8.42% of the import segment, 2.34% higher than the share held in the corresponding period of last year.
