Real estate market drives Macon Deva turnover to 16.6m euros

Macon, a Deva-based producer and distributor of construction materials, in the first half of this year generated turnover worth above 16.6m euros, up 34% against the same period in 2006. The company's sales were primarily bolstered by the rapid growth witnessed on the constructions market. "H1 turnover growth was generally registered amid rising demand on the construction materials market, recent foreign investments in Romania, as well as individuals' improved standards of living (...)," Marius Marin, general manager of Macon, told ZF Transilvania. The company has earmarked 5m euros for investments this year, in order to develop production capacities, modernise and automate equipment. The main investments will be operated in the ACC and prefabricated product sectors. According to Macon officials, this year the company's plans to reorganise the production processes, expand the marketing and sales teams and also develop skills in human resources. The company targets a turnover worth 38m euros this year, an increase of 25% on last year's level. For this year, the company expects its share of the ACC market to increase slightly, from 14% to 15% amid investments in production.
