Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte will double its assets this year to 80 million euros, says Ionut Costea, the chairman of the institution, who expects to sell 70,000-80,000 saving-lending contracts. The bank concluded last year with 40 million euros in assets, while the total value of the contracts signed in 2005 rose to 243 million euros. It signed 155 million euros in contracts in 2004, its first year in business. RBL sold more than 45,000 saving-lending products last year, with the total number of contracts thus reaching about 80,000. "We have a 6 million euro investment planned for distribution, promotion and the opening of a call-centre in 2006," Costea says. The bank will open regional representative offices in Iasi, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara and Sibiu soon. RBL sells its products through a network of its own agents, which has come to total some 7,000 people, through Raiffeisen Bank branches and through partners. The most active channels last year were the bank''s own agents and the bank distribution channel, which totalled over 237 million euros in sales. The customers'' savings amounted to 28 million euros last year, compared with a planned 22 million euros. This result was achieved given that the average value per contract was 5,400 euros, higher than the initially estimated 4,700 euros. The bank got the subsidy from the Ministry of Constructions and Transport for the annual 30% bonus the state grants to clients for the sums saved. ZF
