Praktiker invests 16m euros in Timi[oara and Ia[i

German company Praktiker will open two Do-It-Yourself stores by the end of the year, in Timi[oara and Ia[i, with total investments worth around 16 million euros, and reach a 20-store network in Romania by the end of the year. The Timi[oara-based store, the company's second store in the city, will open on Friday, November 9, while the Ia[i store is scheduled to open in December, reads a release issued by Praktiker. This year, Praktiker opened another two stores, in Gala]i and T=rgovi[te. After the two projects are completed, the overall value of the investments conducted by the German company in Romania will exceed 160 million euros, while the network's overall sales area will stand at 120,000 square metres. Timi[oara is the second city, after Bucharest, where Praktiker owns more than one store. The first store in Timi[oara was opened in May 2004 and expanded by 1,400 square metres this year, to almost 8,000 square metres. In the first nine months of the year, Praktiker Romania reported sales worth 181.9 million euros, up 71.1% against the same time last year.
