Porsche Romania, the largest automobile importer on the domestic market sold over 23,000 cars in the first seven months of 2006, an increase of approximately 36% on the same time last year. At an average price of approximately 13,000 euros, the value of the cars sold could be somewhere in the neighbourhood of 300 million euros. "The growth, induced by the upward trend of the imported car market was also fuelled by the new models launched, such as Volkswagen Passat or Audi Q7 (photo), as well by the fact that some models launched last year, like the New Seat Leon, reached their sales peak this year," company officials stated. Porsche Romania sold 3,880 cars this July. Its full-year target is 38,000 units, an increase of 20% on 2005. Porsche Romania, the importer of the Audi, Porsche, Seat and Volkswagen brands on the domestic market made 565 million euros in turnover and about 48 million-euro profit last year. Its best selling model in Romania in the first seven months was Skoda Octavia Tour, more than 3,500 units, with Polo GP (Volkswagen) coming second. Skoda saw the highest sales of all the brands of the importer, 10,784 units in seven months.
