Slovenian drug distribution company Kemofarmacija will begin an investment plan this year in order to help Pharmafarm, its Romanian arm, become one of the top three players on this market. Pharmafarm currently ranks ninth. Kemofarmacija took over Pharmafarm last year, thus becoming the first strategic investor on the Romanian drug distribution market. The former majority shareholder of Pharmafarm is Slovenian drug producer Lek, which decided to sell its distribution business in Romania last year to focus on production and import. "The change will be conceptual and will initially target our strategy. The market has seen us as a Lek-owned drug distributor until now. This perception needs to be changed and this is why we have substantially consolidated our management and sales team," Marius Chereches, Pharmafarm's chief executive told Ziarul Financiar. ZF
