Pegasus enters with five weekly flights on Bucharest-Istanbul route

Turkey's Pegasus Airlines low-cost airlines, which owns a 30Boeing plane fleet, is set to introduce five weekly flights on theBucharest-Istanbul route starting May 16. The company is currentlyflying to 100 destinations and has been looking at the Romanianmarket since last year, when the company's representatives came totalk with the officials of Henri Coandă airport of Otopeni.

"We're about to complete all operation formalities for PegasusAirlines to enter Otopeni airport," stated Valentin Iordache, aspokesman with Compania Naţională de Aeroporturi Bucureşti, whichmanages the two Bucharest airports.

Pegasus Airlines is promoting the 49.9-euro fare for a trip onthe Bucharest-Istanbul route on its website. The company'srepresentatives could not be contacted by edition close. Data onturnover and number of passengers Pegasus transported last year arenot available.

With the five weekly flights it announced on its website,Pegasus Airlines will enter direct competition with TurkishAirlines and Tarom.
