Paint producers make CEE Top 50

30.11.2004, 00:00 19

Three Romanian paint and varnish producers have made it into the Central and Eastern Europe Top 50 in a survey by the market research company Research and Markets. Kober Piatra Neamt, Policolor Bucharest, Azur Timisoara, as well as Caparol (a German brand also manufactured in Romania by Daw Benta Targu Mures, a joint venture between Germany's DAW and the Benta Group) and Meffert (which owns 50% in Dufa), now number among the top 50 companies in the paint industry in Central and Eastern Europe. Markets in the region are on the rise, unlike the in West, which is already experiencing saturation. Sales of paints and varnishes in Romania amounted to some 140 million euros last year, up on the year before. The main players on the market became aware of this when they saw their results increase and earlier this year budgeted for rises for 2004. The Top 50 was put together by Research and Markets and was made using data from 13 markets in the region, including Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Baltic states, Ukraine, Russia and Turkey.
