Only a quarter of the around 470,000 companies that have tosubmit the single statement (for the income tax and socialcontributions) have done so, with long queues expected this week, considering that the legal deadline is Friday, February 25th.

Until Friday, February 18th, 118,000 companies had filed thesingle statement out of a total of 470,000 companies, according toSorin Blejnar, chairman of the National Fiscal AdministrationAgency (ANAF).
According to statistics of the tax authorities, around 40% ofcontributors submit the statements on the last day.
In January the submission of health care statements, which are dueto be filed on a monthly basis by all employers, has broughthundreds of people to the headquarters of the National HealthInsurance House in Bucharest, which created tension, queues andcrowding. Late submission of the statements is fined.
Although the decision to introduce the single statement isconsidered one of the best measures taken by the Government lately, some tax consultants also cited as a negative aspect the fact thatcompanies have to pay for the digital certificate needed to submitthe electronic statement.
